Ellen van Kleef, Wageningen University & Research, The Netherlands
Dr. Ellen van Kleef is associate professor on ‘healthy food consumption’ at the Marketing and Consumer Behaviour Group of Wageningen University (the Netherlands). Originally trained in Human Nutrition and Dietetics (BSc and MSc Degree), she developed a strong interest in the driving forces behind peoples’ food choices. In her current research she develops a deeper understanding of how food environments influence consumption so that they can be improved in such a way that they support consumers in effectively controlling their consumption. Methodologically, her research combines small scale laboratory experimental studies on food intake with intervention testing studies in real life environments (e.g. restaurants, schools, food stores). She published her research in international journals such as Food Quality and Preference, Journal of Health Psychology, Appetite, Psychology & Health and Public Health Nutrition.
