Pieter Desmet

Pieter (M.A.) Desmet is associate professor of Emotional Design at the department of Industrial Design, Delft University of Technology. He is board member of the International Design and Emotion Society, and director of the Delft Institute of Positive Design, an institute that initiates and stimulates the development of knowledge that supports designers in their attempts to design for human flourishing. Desmet develops tools and instruments for emotion-driven innovation. In addition, he is involved in local community projects, like the recently developed cultural Rotterdam-based ‘house of happiness.’ His latest book, ‘From Floating Wheelchairs to Mobile Car Parks’ (co-edited with dr. Rick Schifferstein) presents a collection of 35 experience-driven design projects.
