Sensonics International provides the medical, scientific, and consumer product communities with the highest quality quantitative tests for assessing smell and taste function.  Our tests are used to not only screen panel members in a wide range of industries, but to train them to optimize their ability to identify sensory elements of consumer products, including baked goods, candies, drinking water, and other beverages such as wine.   Sensonics’ water training kit is widely used in the water industry to train panelists to identify contaminants in water supplies.

Sensonics’ self-administered Smell Identification Test (aka UPSIT®) is the most widely used olfactory test in the world, having been translated into over 30 languages.  This test, which employs normative data from nearly 4,000 subjects, provides both absolute and percentile rating measures based upon age and sex.  In addition to its use in a wide range of organoleptic panels, it is widely used by the pharmaceutical industry to evaluate the impact of their medications on the sense of smell.  The Snap &Sniff® Eco-Friendly Olfactory Test System allows for the testing of odor identification, detection, and discrimination with custom odorants designated by the customer.  The Waterless Empirical Taste Test (WETT®) reliably differentiates between levels of taste function without the use of water and differentiates among age groups, sexes, and PTC and PROP taster categories.  Other Sensonics’ products include electrogustometers and olfactometers that can define stimulus delivery times, inter-trial intervals, and feedback conditions.  Sensonics’ consultants are pleased to partner with industries to optimize their sensory evaluation and training needs.
